To mark the culmination of Black History Month and highlight the importance of making Juneteenth a national holiday in 2021, social impact leader and 'Grandmother of Juneteenth,' Ms. Opal Lee launched her Juneteenth: A Road to Unity campaign by hosting a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington on Thursday, February 25.

Ms. Opal Lee was joined on stage by [INVNT GROUP] CEO & President Scott Cullather, Unity Unlimited President Dione Sims, representatives from the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation and US Representative Marc Veasey.
US Representative Sheila Jackson Lee addressed the audience via speakerphone, and US Senators John Cornyn and Tina Smith shared video messages of support that were streamed during the event.

Ms. Opal Lee’s congressional supporters - US Senators John Cornyn, Ed Markey and Tina Smith and US Representative Sheila Jackson Lee reintroduced the bipartisan bill to make Juneteenth a federal holiday. The bill has been reintroduced in both the House and Senate.
