Opal’s Walk Live 2021

On this June 19th, Ms. Opal Lee will embark on her annual 2.5 mile walk to recognize the 2.5 years it took for the news of freedom to reach all enslaved people in the United States.

Register for Ms. Opal’s Walk Live 2021 on Saturday, June 19th to walk alongside Ms. Opal and recognize the Juneteenth holiday. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be local to participate!

While Ms. Opal Lee will walk and celebrate alongside her community in Fort Worth, Texas, she invites you all to walk the 2.5 miles with her, from wherever you may be.

Walk through your neighborhood, on a treadmill, at a local track or wherever you can. Gather family, friends, neighbors and colleagues to help spread the word!

Register with a group.

And sponsor a fundraiser that benefits your group and Ms. Opal’s mission. Start your own fundraising page by filling out the contact form on the Group Registration page, linked below.

Funds raised will go Ms. Opal’s walking campaign that works to unite the country and gain support for making Juneteenth a national holiday, and a portion of the funds your group raises will go to the organization of your group’s choice.

  • Sign up to walk alongside the ‘Grandmother of Juneteenth’.

  • Receive a digital walk bib to confirm your participation.

  • Donate to help support Ms. Opal’s walking campaign across the country as she shares her mission of unity and Juneteenth.
