The Opal’s Walk Campaign started as an initiative which aimed at gaining attention for Juneteenth to be made a National Holiday.
With the help of thousands of supporters across the country, Dr. Opal Lee, with the help of her granddaughter Dione Sims, was able to make that dream a reality.
Opal’s Walk is now an annual event graced by thousands of people and this year will be no exception. With 10 simultaneous in-person walks across the country and the virtual walk program, you can celebrate freedom wherever you are.
